Do you rent containers to homeowners?

The assumption that trips people up

People picture a construction fence and a job trailer when they think of a container rental, so they assume the yard only deals with contractors and companies with a purchase order. That's backwards. A residential driveway is one of the most ordinary places our truck pulls up.

There's no separate homeowner tier and no reason to apologize for calling about a driveway instead of a jobsite. It's the same phone call either way.

Who's actually calling for one of these

• A family clearing a room, or a whole house, while a renovation is underway.
• Someone staging a move, packing at their own pace instead of racing a moving truck.
• A household salvaging belongings after storm or water damage while the house gets repaired.
• A homeowner who wants extra space for a season, without committing to own a box.

What you don't need to rent one

No business license, no company name on the account, and no active jobsite required. What we do need is a real delivery address and a spot the truck can actually reach.

What delivery to a house looks like

The same rules apply to a driveway as to a jobsite: the ground should be firm and reasonably level, gravel is ideal, and the truck needs a straight run in, roughly 65 feet for a 20-ft and about 95 feet for a 40-ft. Move vehicles out of the way and watch for low limbs or wires over the spot you have in mind.

Pick which end you want the doors facing before the truck arrives. It's a small thing that saves a second conversation on delivery day.

If you're not sure you'll want to keep it

Plenty of homeowners rent first specifically to see how a container fits their land before deciding anything. If you end up wanting it for good, in many cases we can credit part of what you've already paid toward buying it outright.

The questions homeowners usually ask on that first call

Most calls from a house start the same way: how much room does it actually need, will it fit next to the garage, and does the yard need anything special before the truck shows up. None of those are unusual questions, and none of them require any building experience to answer. We'll walk through your driveway or side yard over the phone before anything is scheduled.

If your property sits inside town limits or under an HOA, that's worth a separate conversation about permits, since rules on that vary by county rather than by whether you're a homeowner or a business.
