Why 40 feet

Double the space, not double the price.

The 40-foot container is the workhorse of the yard and almost always the best deal we sell. Pound for pound, you get the most secure, dry, lockable space for your money — a single 40-ft costs noticeably less than two 20-ft units while giving you one long, uninterrupted floor instead of two short ones.

It's the same genuine ISO container as the 20-ft, just stretched out: 14-gauge Cor-Ten weathering steel, a marine-grade plywood floor, and cargo doors that still seal after a decade at sea. Where a 20-ft fills up fast, a 40-ft swallows a full home's worth of belongings, a small fleet of equipment, or a season's inventory — and still leaves you walking room down the middle.

Before you buy

Make sure the truck can pull in.

A 40-ft is delivered on a tilt-bed truck that backs in and gently slides the container off onto blocks. Because it's longer, it needs more room than a 20-ft — plan on roughly 95 feet of straight, firm pull-in so the truck can line up and set the box level.

The ground should be reasonably flat and able to carry a loaded truck without sinking — gravel, packed dirt, or pavement all work. If you're tight on space or the approach has a sharp turn, that's exactly what we talk through before we schedule. Send a couple of photos of the driveway and the drop spot and we'll confirm the fit.

40-ft vs 20-ft

One 40-ft beats two 20-ft units.

If you can fit one, a 40-ft is almost always the smarter buy. You get one continuous floor — no wall in the middle splitting your space — and the per-square-foot price drops well below two separate 20-ft boxes.

Two 20-ft containers only win when you need storage in two different spots, or your site can't take the longer 95-ft pull-in. Not sure which way to go? We'll talk it through honestly before you spend a dollar.
