Almost everybody asking about the Wytheville lot is really weighing two drives. Woodlawn or Wytheville, and which one is worth the fuel. So here is the split, plainly.
The lot on E Lee Highway is a sales location with containers on the ground, keeping the same hours as the yard, Monday to Friday, 8 to 5. You can see steel, talk to somebody who knows it, and get a price for what you want. What it is not is the working yard, and that one distinction decides your drive.
If you already know the shape of what you want, a 20 ft or a 40 ft, buying or renting, and you are not shopping one unit against another on condition, Wytheville does the job and saves you the run down toward Carroll County.
If condition is the call you are making, you need boxes standing side by side, and side by side is a Woodlawn thing. That is the address with the volume behind it, the machine to lift one particular unit clear of a row, and the ground to swing both doors and walk the floor before you commit to anything.
A dealer claiming two addresses is not telling you much on its own. The second one is sometimes an office suite, sometimes a rented mail slot, sometimes a map marker with no steel anywhere near it. Ours is frontage on E Lee Highway with steel parked on it.
It works as a front door for the Wytheville side and for people coming in from the north and the west. Somebody up that way can put eyes on a container and a hand on a door bar without filling out a contact form first. It is not where the trucks load, and it is not where the deep inventory sits.
Put a road map in front of you and it explains itself. Two interstates meet at Wytheville. I-81 carries traffic along the valley and I-77 carries it north and south, and a lot standing near a junction like that gets seen by people who are already driving past.
It also puts a face on the northern half of the reach. Deliveries themselves still roll out of Woodlawn, and every free delivery mile is still counted from the yard gate on Elk Horn Rd rather than from the lot. Buying at the lot does not change how your box gets to your ground.
