A rental works differently: you sign a rental agreement instead, and a bill of sale is only issued if that rental later converts into a purchase.
A container doesn't come with a title the way a truck or a car does. There's no DMV involved and no registration number to renew. The bill of sale is the whole record: your name, the price you paid, the date, and the unit's own serial number, the same one stencilled on the CSC plate near the door.
That serial number is what ties the paper to the actual steel. If you ever need to prove which specific container is yours, whether for insurance, a private sale down the road, or a county that wants to know what's sitting on your land, that number is what you point to.
