What is included in a delivered price?

Updated August 23, 2026 · Answered by Containers Delivered, Woodlawn VA
The short answer

Everything that happens on drop day is already in the number: the tilt-bed backing in, the container sliding onto leveled foundation blocks, and a welded lockbox going on before the driver leaves. None of that shows up as a separate charge. What's not included is anything past 75 road miles, or work beyond the box itself, like electrical or a custom build-out.

What the driver actually does on drop day

Drop day is one visit and it is all inside the number. The driver walks the spot, sets foundation blocks where the box is going, then backs the tilt-bed in, which wants about 65 feet of straight run for a 20-ft container and about 95 feet for a 40-ft. The bed tips, the container slides down onto the blocks, and it gets checked level so the doors swing true. Last job before the truck pulls out is welding the lockbox on, the steel collar that keeps bolt cutters off your padlock.

None of that shows up as a separate line item anywhere. It's baked into the figure you were quoted before the truck ever left Woodlawn.

The rule behind what's in the price

If your address sits within 75 road miles of the Woodlawn yard, delivery, leveling on blocks, and the welded lockbox are already folded into the price for every container sold or rented. There's no add-on fee waiting at the end for any of it.

Once you're past 75 miles

Past that radius, the extra mileage gets quoted up front, before the truck rolls, not discovered afterward. On the town list we publish, only Roanoke at 76 miles and Bristol at 88 fall past the line, and the miles on either one are named in the quote before anything is scheduled.

What a delivered price doesn't cover

The number covers the container as it sits on the truck, not work done to it afterward. Anything cut, welded, wired or finished, a roll-up door, a man door, vents, shelving, insulation or paint, carries a separate quote written once we can see the actual build, because there is no honest way to fold an unknown project into a delivery figure.

Electrical is worth naming specifically: any wiring we run is roughed in only, meaning panel, outlets, and switches. A licensed electrician still handles the final hookup and inspection; we don't pull permits or energize it ourselves.

Getting your real number

Tell us the size, condition, and delivery address, and the figure you hear back already has all of the above folded in. If you're outside 75 miles, the mileage gets added to that same number, in the open, before anything gets scheduled.

Key takeaways

  • Delivery, leveling on foundation blocks, and the welded lockbox are already in the price for every container within 75 miles.
  • Past 75 road miles, the extra mileage is quoted up front, not tacked on after the truck arrives.
  • A delivered price covers the container as it sits on the truck, not custom modifications, which get their own quote.
  • Electrical work is roughed in only; a licensed electrician still handles final hookup and inspection.
  • Ask for the number by phone and it already reflects everything that happens on drop day.
It's already on the box, standard on every container we sell and rent, never a separate charge.
We confirm access with a photo before we schedule. A straightforward drop within 75 miles is already covered by the quote; anything unusual gets talked through on the call.
We quote the added mileage up front as part of the same number, before the truck is scheduled, so you know the full cost going in.
