Where is your container yard?

One fixed address, a lot of variable roads out from it

The address itself never moves: 5567 Elk Horn Rd, Woodlawn, Virginia, in Carroll County, gate open Monday through Friday, 8 to 5. What varies is everything between that gate and wherever your container is headed. Two towns can sit the same distance away on a map and still take a truck a different amount of time to reach, depending on the county line, the road grade, and whether it is a two-lane state route or an interstate on-ramp.

That is the honest reason we cannot give one blanket answer for a whole region. Carroll County looks nothing like Forsyth County, and a mountain road into North Carolina drives differently than a straight run up I-81.

What changes county to county

• Carroll, Grayson and Wythe counties, closest to the gate, are flat free delivery territory with the shortest runs.
• Counties along I-77 and I-81 add miles but not much complication, since those are interstate corridors our trucks already run.
• Mountain counties toward the North Carolina and West Virginia lines can add curves and elevation that a straight-line map distance does not show.

None of that changes where the yard is. It changes how long the drive from the yard takes, and in a few cases, whether a delivery lands inside our free 75-mile ring or just outside it.

Why there is a second address at all

The sales lot at 2220 E Lee Highway in Wytheville exists because Wytheville sits closer to some of our western customers than Woodlawn does, and it gives people a place to look at containers without driving the whole way out to the working yard. The steel itself still comes from Woodlawn. Wytheville is where you can see units staged for sale, not where deliveries are measured from.

That distinction matters for the free zone math. Every mile on a quote is counted from Elk Horn Road, not from Wytheville, even for a customer who first saw the container on the sales lot.
