Can I put cameras on a container?

The decision is not whether, it is when

Most people ask us whether a camera can go on a container. It can. The question that actually decides how it turns out is whether you plan for it before the box ships or bolt something on after it lands.

A camera bolted through the exterior wall after the fact means an unplanned hole in a shell you paid to have sealed, and every one of those is a leak you find later, usually during the next hard rain. A mount that was welded on and fitted with conduit before delivery never has that problem, because the hole was planned for and sealed as part of the build.

What tips it toward planning ahead

• The container is a purchase, or a rental you plan to keep through a whole job, not a two-week fill-in
• The camera needs continuous power rather than a battery unit you swap out
• The site is remote or unattended for stretches, where a documented approach matters more
• You already know the camera and its power draw before the truck leaves our yard

None of that rules out adding a camera later. It just means the later route is a drilled hole and a bracket, and the planned route is a welded mount that was part of the box from the start.

How a camera mount actually gets built

Our shop fits a welded mount in the spot you want, with a conduit path run for the wiring. The camera itself is yours to pick and yours to own; we do not sell or spec the camera. Electrical is roughed in ready for a licensed electrician to finish and inspect in your jurisdiction. We do not pull permits or wire it live ourselves.

Turnaround depends on scope. A mount and conduit path alone is quick, often a few days. Bundled into a fuller build with a door, insulation and a full electrical package, it runs longer, usually one to a few weeks depending on what else is on the list, and that timeline comes in writing with the quote.

What a camera does not replace

A camera documents what happened. It does not by itself stop it from happening. The layer that actually prevents entry is the welded lockbox already on every container we sell or rent, along with where the doors face when we set the box, and a camera earns its keep on top of that, not instead of it.
