The mistake buyers make with this size

The common assumption is that a 10-ft container is simply a smaller, cheaper version of what a yard already has sitting around, roughly half a 20-ft and available on the same terms. Neither half of that holds up. We do not keep 10-ft containers on the ground at the yard in Woodlawn or the sales lot in Wytheville. Our stock runs 20-ft and 40-ft, in standard and high-cube heights, in used cargo-worthy and one-trip grades. The 10-ft is a specialty length. We source it to order once a job actually needs one, which means there is never a 10-ft standing in the rows waiting on a buyer.

Treating it like an off-the-shelf item, then calling around expecting same-week delivery, is where people get frustrated with an otherwise reasonable size.

The right way to ask for one

Start with a phone call and the actual site constraint, not a size request in isolation. Work out what the real constraint is first. Usually it is one of three things: the box will not physically fit the spot, the truck has nowhere to line up for the approach, or something fixed on the property refuses to move out of the way. That constraint is almost always the real reason somebody lands on 10-ft, more than a need for less volume.

Tell us that, and we will tell you honestly whether a 10-ft is realistic on your timeline once we source one, or whether a different size solves it faster. What we will not do is invent a price on the spot for a size we have not sourced yet, because that number depends on what is available when we go looking for it. A written quote after that conversation is the honest next step, not a number off a general price list.

What stays the same as our full-size stock

Length is the only dimension that changes. Width and height match everything else we sell, 8 ft wide and 8 ft 6 in tall, and the construction is identical: 14-gauge Corten weathering steel, a marine-plywood floor over steel cross members, cargo doors built to seal tight. A 10-ft is not a scaled-down knockoff, it is a genuine ISO container that happens to be shorter.
