The real question: is this the box we sell, or a different one?

If the word tricon turned up while you were pricing storage or a jobsite box, the decision in front of you isn't about specs, it's about whether you're even shopping in the right category. A tricon isn't a smaller version of what we deliver in Woodlawn. It's a different product built for a different customer.

The deciding factor is simple: who moves the cargo, and how. If you're storing tools, hay, inventory, or moving a household, you want a standard 20-ft or 40-ft container. If a listing or a spec sheet says tricon, you're looking at military logistics equipment, and the sizing math gives it away: three tricons, each about 6 feet 8 inches long, lock together into the same 20-foot span as one of our containers.

Why three, and not just one size

The tricon exists for the same reason as the quadcon and the bicon: the military needed boxes small enough to move by truck, rail, or helicopter that would still dock into the crane, chassis, and ship-cell hardware built for full-size containers. Splitting a 20-foot footprint into thirds instead of quarters or halves gave logistics planners another option for matching box size to cargo, whether that's ammunition pallets, spare parts, or field kit.

What it means when you're ready to order

It means you can stop researching tricons and go back to the two questions that actually decide your order: how much space you need, and whether that space needs to sit on your property indefinitely or just for a season. Both of those questions point to a standard 20-ft or 40-ft box, priced and delivered the way our container types page lays out, not a modular military unit we don't carry.
