Why is my container wet inside?

Condensation. Warm, moist air trapped inside the box rises to the steel roof, and once that steel cools below the dew point overnight, water comes out of the air and drips back down. What's actually happening on the ceiling

Every container holds a volume of air, and that air carries moisture depending on what went in with it and what the weather was doing on loading day. As the sun works on the steel through the afternoon, that trapped air warms and can hold more water. Once night falls and the roof panel gives its heat back to the sky, the steel cools faster than the air inside it can follow. The first surface to reach the dew point is the ceiling, since it is the coldest thing in the box, and that is where beads of water start to form and eventually run.
