No, bamboo flooring isn't something you can special order on a container you're buying or renting from us. Which floor material a container has was decided at the factory that built it, years before it ever reached our yard, and it comes down to when the box was manufactured and which builder made it, not a preference you can specify now.

What changes the answer is simply which used container you end up with. Newer builds are more likely to carry bamboo flooring than older ones, but the only way to know for a specific box is to look at it.

Why some manufacturers moved to bamboo

Bamboo grows fast and matures for harvest in a fraction of the time a hardwood tree takes, which makes it an easier material to source at scale for a manufacturer building thousands of containers a year. Once laminated into engineered panels, it's also denser and holds up to moisture better than many traditional plywood floors.

How it holds up next to marine plywood

Both materials do the same job, taking loaded pallets and forklift traffic without sagging, but bamboo's density gives it an edge on wear resistance and moisture handling over time. Neither is a finished, walk-on-in-socks floor. Anyone converting a container into a workshop or office typically adds a subfloor over either material.

Checking which floor is under a specific container

The two materials look and feel different underfoot once you know what to look for, bamboo tends to run a lighter, more uniform color with a tighter grain pattern than plywood's rougher hardwood surface. Walk into the box and look down, that's the only reliable way to know which one you're standing on.
